New York—Russell Simmons, together with Hamptons magazine publisher Jason Binn, will host the first official fund-raiser for the Diamond Empowerment Fund (DEF), the Simmons-founded non-profit that is committed to the empowerment of communities where diamonds are a natural resource.

"Hampton's Go Green" will be held on Sept. 1 at "The Estate," a Southampton, N.Y., spread owned by nightclub impresarios Mark Birnbaum and Eugene Remm.

Entry to the invite-only event will be the purchase of a special "Green Bracelet," featuring rough diamonds and malachite, and retailing for $125 from the Simmons Jewelry Co. More than $20 from the sale of each bracelet will go to the DEF.

At the event, guests will be invited to participate in a silent auction of items with "green" and "back-to-school" themes. Designers who have already signed on include Baby Phat, David Yurman, Louis Vuitton and Tiffany and Co.

Guests will also get an up-close-and-personal look at designs from Simmons Jewelry Co., as models, including DEF Ambassador Petra Nemcova, don pieces from the company's Baby Phat, Core, Green Initiative and Hello Kitty collections.
