Cadman Offers Customizable Wedding Bands Online

Courtland, Canada—Canadian company Cadman Manufacturing has launched a line of innovative "Couture" wedding bands that consumers can customize using a Web-based 3-D system.

The line follows a floral theme and includes four rings: Cherry Blossom, The Rose, Lily of the Nile and Ivy. Each ring is available with differently colored gemstones and metals.

Canadian design company The Establishment designed the collection. The designs were then rendered in 3-D using a system developed by OpenBlue Networks and The Establishment. The designs were then deployed across a network of retail jewelers' sites using OpenBlue Network's Hybrid Retail system for jewelers.

This opportunity allows Cadman Manufacturing to move toward a "build on demand" model that will allow North American manufacturers to compete effectively with imported jewelry.

As an added bonus, OpenBlue Network's business intelligence system tells Cadman Manufacturing which models are getting traction in each market. This allows sales representatives to place the right products in the right stores based on what consumers are buying off the site.

The line will be sold exclusively through independent jewelers and is currently available from select jewelers in Canada through The Local Jeweller Web site, Thelocaljeweller.com. The company plans a U.S. launch for the line during the first quarter of 2008.
