Felicia Monticelli's cancer hasn't stopped her from doing the things she enjoys most, like showing her artistic side. Doctors diagnosed Monticelli with lung cancer in August 2005, even though she was never a smoker. In fact, she led a healthy lifestyle and was an avid runner and hiker.

Monticelli has enjoyed art since she was a child. Now, painting and crafting jewelry -- even making sculptures from jewelry -- has taken on a therapeutic role.

Having cancer can be depressing, but to help lift her spirits, Monticelli can lose herself in the colors and textures of art. Most recently, she's put her work on the market, exhibiting her jewelry this summer at the Frederick Arts Council's monthly Artist Market.
