Daniel Griesemer, president and chief operating officer of Coldwater Creek Inc., will become the company's chief executive officer on Oct. 30, and retain the role of president. He succeeds Dennis Pence, co-founder, chairman and ceo, who will retire as ceo at the end of this month but remain chairman. Griesemer will also serve on the company's board.

"I have had the extraordinary privilege to cofound and lead Coldwater Creek for 23 years, and I leave with complete confidence in our company's future," Pence said in a statement. He added that Griesemer "has a deep understanding of this business and a clear vision of [its] future growth potential." Griesemer joined Coldwater Creek in October 2001 and was promoted to president and chief operating officer in March 2007. Earlier, he held positions at Gap Inc. and Federated Department Stores Inc.
