Gemesis to 'pony up' for breast cancer awareness - National Jeweler
Sarasota, Fla.—Gemesis Corp. will support October Breast Cancer Awareness Month this year by teaming up with pro golfer Morgan Pressel and matching a Polo Ralph Lauren donation for each birdie Pressel makes in LGPA Tour events during the month of October.
This "Birdie Matching Program" is an initiative of Polo Ralph Lauren's Pink Pony Fund, which raises money for the fight against breast cancer.
Gemesis, along with Pressel's other sponsors, including Audemars Piguet, Callaway Golf and the Kapalua Resort, will all match Polo Ralph Lauren's donation for the two events Pressel will play in October: The Longs Drugs Challenge at Blackhawk Country Club in Danville, Calif., and the Samsung World Championship at Bighorn Golf Club in Palm Desert, Calif.
Pressel, 18, is the youngest-ever winner of a LPGA major tournament. Earlier this year, she was signed to a multi-year endorsement contract with Gemesis.
"This cause is very dear to me because of my own personal experience losing my mother to cancer in 2003," Pressel said in a statement. "On average, I make about 15 birdies per tournament. This means Gemesis should get ready to 'pony' up!"
Donations made to the Pink Pony Fund will directly benefit the Boca Raton Community Hospital Lynn Cancer Institute.
