Jewels fit for a punk princess are the inspiration behind a new accessory trend. "It's a private-schoolgirl-gone-bad look, which draws on the styles popularized by Avril Lavigne and Gwen Stefani," says Reina Maltoni, a Montreal-based buyer for Xcetera.
The look incorporates the classic punk elements of metal chains and studs, combined with the ties, pocket crests and plaids that are associated with prep school life. "The ties are so popular, we're having trouble keeping them in the stores," says Maltoni.
