The Tahera Diamond Corp. may have made a mistake in opening its Jericho mine in Nunavut, said a diamond analyst, following the company's announcement this week that it continues to lose money. In its third quarter report, the Toronto-based mining company reported that it lost $143 million over the first nine months of this year, and has also written off $73 million it had spent on the Jericho mine that it now does not expect to recover.

Maui Divers named year's best jeweler, designer
Maui Divers Jewelry, the Honolulu-based retail-jewelry chain with stores in Hawaii, California and Las Vegas, has garnered two Hawaii Jewelers Association awards: "Jeweler of the Year" and "Designer of the Year." The awards are part of the association's 2007 Jewelry Design Competition, which features jewelry pieces from multiple jewelers throughout Hawaii. This year, 38 pieces were entered into the contest.
