Plan finalised to increase gem & jewelry exports

A plan has been devised to facilitate country’s gem and jewelry industry to achieve $ 1.5 billion gem and jewelry export targets during the next ten years.

Chairman Pakistan Gems and Jewelry Development Company (PGJDC) Motiullah Sheikh told Radio Pakistan that the sector has great potential and presently more than one million Pakistanis are associated with it.  He said country’s current gems and jewelry export stood at $ 40 million which can be increased by introducing Pakistani jewelry in the international markets.

PGJDC is establishing training and manufacturing centers to produce trained staff and promote latest techniques in the field.
