Blue Nile Seeks Art Director
Blue Nile, the leading online retailer of diamonds and fine jewelry, seeks an Art Director to join our team. The Art Director is responsible for the look and feel of Blue Nile creative, consistent with the Blue Nile brand. This includes, but is not limited to the Blue Nile Web site, advertising and print materials.
The Art Director will work on developing new site features as well as working through usability of applications. They will work with other designers and website developers to deliver a great user experience across all methods of contact with our customers. This position will also work with Marketing and Merchandising to coordinate site advertising and product launches. An eye for customer usability, detail and a strong sense of ownership are critical to success in this position. The ability to understand the brand elements, develop new concepts and have confidence to present them and take critical feedback is required.

Essential Functions:
- Lead the usability/design initiatives for the website
- Concept and design new site features that keep Blue Nile ahead of competitors.
- Coordinate with outside vendors for photography, illustration and print.
- Work on key business objectives with Site Development, Marketing and Merchandising teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Interactive Communications, Graphic Design or equivalent.
- 5-8 years experience designing for the Web, preferably with online retail experience.
- Strong understanding of user interface and usability guidelines for the Web. Involvement in usability studies/testing a plus.
- Strong communication skills; must be able to work effectively on a small team.
- High enthusiasm, creativity, initiative, and innovation.
- Experience with software tools such as Photoshop, ImageReady, Illustrator, InDesign, Flash MX, HTML, Homesite and Microsoft Office.
