Shigley to receive Antonio C. Bonanno Award - National Jeweler

The Accredited Gemologists Association (AGA) will award the 2007 Antonio C. Bonanno Award for Excellence in Gemology to Dr. James Shigley of the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) Gem Trade Laboratory.

Dr. Shigley, a Distinguished Research Fellow at the GIA, has been with the institute for 25 years. In his current position, he advances the GIA's gem-research program to support the jewelry trade to meet the challenges of gem identification. He also helps direct the GIA's research activities on the identification of natural, synthetic and treated diamonds, colored stones and pearls.
