Something Old, Something Blue – Some Jewelry That's New
Most of us associate February with Valentine's Day. However, February is also National Weddings Month and in recognition of the 29 days of awareness that is set aside for couples planning to wed in the coming months, lia sophia gives advice on wedding jewelry trends for the new year.
"A wedding is perhaps one of the most important and exciting events in an individual's life, especially for the bride – and she should look her best," said Bonni Davis, vice president of sales for lia sophia.
Davis gives the following advice on trends that will be a big hit for the year 2008.
- Bold in Gold - Gold jewelry is making a comeback! The classic yellow metal looks great against any skin tone and brings richness to wedding gowns.
- Crystals, Beads and Stones – Beaded necklaces adorned with colored crystals and semi-precious stones are gaining popularity in bridesmaid jewelry. In addition, women in the bridal party are wearing layered necklaces of various lengths. Davis says stranded necklaces can be simple chains or embellished with crystals, pearls or other stones to match the color scheme of the wedding.
- Angelic White Tones – Since white or cream are usually the primary colors of a wedding gown, both the bride and her bridesmaids can compliment their dresses with jewels in a subtle palette of white, cream, or colored pearls mixed with faceted crystal beads in soft colors.
- Chic Jewelry for a Simple Dress – Longer necklaces can dress up simple bridesmaid gowns, giving the ensemble a sophisticated vintage flair.
- Matching isn't Always Key – Earrings and necklaces do not need to match exactly. However, it is important that all of the jewelry compliments each other.
- A Nice Balance – If large, dramatic earrings are worn with a gown or bridesmaids dress, it is best to pair them with a delicate necklace or bracelet only.
- Chandeliers Anyone? – Linear and chandelier earrings are both great silhouettes to wear with upswept hair, as they elongate the neck, Davis said. Dangling jewelry styles evoke a sense of glamour, and draw attention to the bride’s face.
