Stoned love: Semiprecious gems adorning more than jewelry

Jewelry isn't the only place to find citrine, tourmaline or onyx this spring. Jewelry designer (and certified gemologist) KARA ROSS uses semiprecious stones to punctuate candy-colored lizard and alligator clutches.

Ross, a former staffer at Harper's Bazaar, founded her jewelry collection in 2002, and launched the exotic-skin bag collection just last fall. Designed with a jeweler's eye, each bag is hand-stitched, each bauble hand-cut. Find the collection, priced $2,000 to $5,000, at Neiman Marcus downtown.
