Platinum hits $2,000 amid supply problems - JB News Feed

Commodity markets brushed aside fears of a US recession and enjoyed strong gains across the board with platinum and spring wheat recording dramatic gains this week. Platinum shot through the $2,000 a troy ounce level, gathering momentum as the potential scale of the disruption to South African production became clearer. Impala Platinum, the world's second-largest producer, forecast this year's global supply deficit could reach 620,000 ounces, the highest since 1999.
