Hot Wheels, the creator of die-cast toy cars that are as much a part of the childhood lexicon as Barbie, has kicked off its 40th anniversary this year with the unveiling of the most expensive Hot Wheels car in history. On Feb. 15, at the American International Toy Fair in New York, recording artist Nick Lachey unveiled the custom-jeweled 1:64-scale car designed by celebrity jeweler Jason of Beverly Hills. The car, valued at $140,000, features more than 2,700 diamonds.
