Christie's to Hold 'Jewels - The New York Sale' on April 16

Christie's New York will hold its Jewels - The New York Sale on April 16, 2008, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. One of the many highlights will be a rare cushion-cut diamond of 39.34 carats, D color, internally flawless, and designated Type IIa. The diamond maintains perfect symmetry and cut (pre-sale estimate: $6 million to $8 million.) Christie's describes the diamond (pictured) to embody "all the trademark characteristics sought-after in a special diamond; limpid transparency, extreme brilliance and a sophistication reserved for the finest diamonds reminiscent of important stones found in the fabled mines of Golconda in India and also Brazil and South Africa."
