Safe Passage Home fundraising luncheon sponsored by Moissanite-Collection.com
Moissanite Jewelry Collection sponsored a fundraising event for Safe Passage Home in Los Angeles early in June. The charity luncheon featured Aspire by Shea Curry, a moissanite jewelry collection exclusively available at Moissanite-Collection.com. Funds from the sale of moissanite jewelry will be donated to victims of domestic violence.
Every year in the United States, somewhere between two million and four million women are assaulted by their spouse or partner, according to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. On Saturday, June 7th, 2008 Safe Passage Home hosted a luncheon event dedicated to celebrating restored lives and the organization’s commitment to providing abused women and their children a new and better life. During the event, Aspire by Shea Curry was unveiled and a ring featured in this exclusive collection was auctioned off, with all proceeds donated to the charity. The event kicked off a life long commitment by Shea Curry to donate 10% of all future sales made on Moissanite-Collection.com of Aspire moissanite jewelry to the Safe Passage Home Organization.
The new line will initially feature moissanite rings, pendants and earrings, but pieces will be added to the collection over time. “I was recently introduced to moissanite and was fascinated with the stone. I was looking for something unique to build a jewelry line around and once I learned more about moissanite, I knew this was the stone I wanted as the centerpiece of my first collection” says Shea Curry. “My goal is to create a signature moissanite piece specifically for Safe Passage, so I am working on that with Trish Steele the founder and CEO of the organization right now. I am very excited about being a part of helping these women have a new and better life.”
The luncheon entitled “Light Up a Life” took place at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills featuring celebrity guests Mario Lopez, “Dancing with the Stars” Nicholas and Lena Kosovich, Grammy Award Recording Artist Debby Boone, Winning Director Garry Marshall and Top Artist “Dilana,” to name a few. During the event, two women who suffered neglect and abuse revealed their life makeovers, along with the cosmetic surgeons, dentists, doctors, counselors, fashion designers and others from the community who made the transformation possible. There was also a fashion show, live and silent auction, as well as several honorees awarded for their contributions to the organization.
About Aspire by Shea Curry Exclusively at Moissanite-Collection.com:
The new moissanite line Aspire was developed by Shea Curry, a jewelry designer and actress with fifteen years on the stage and silver screen. She started out in New York Theatre before relocating to Hollywood where she has appeared in movies and on television including Georgia Rule, Malcolm in the Middle, Las Vegas, CSI Miami and Hancock to be released later this year starring Will Smith and Charlize Theron. She also appeared in The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement and it was on this set that her career as a jewelry designer took shape. During the film’s production, she had many hours to sit in her trailer, so to pass the time she made jewelry for the cast and female crew. After receiving nice responses regarding her hand made pieces she decided to push forward with her own line. In April of 2007, Shea’s wedding was featured in In Style Weddings where her bridal party also all wore jewelry she had designed especially for the occasion.
