Shambhala Jewelry - The New Wave
What happens when jewelry designers run out of ideas for new jewelry products? They go to the far reaches of the world and re-create a product that can gain popularity - thanks in part to the internet.

How many have heard of a Shamballa bracelet? If you shop on Amazon, there's pages of these bracelets being sold. One can find them under the following names/titles:
Shamballa
Shambala
Tibetan Shambhala (correct spelling)
Unisex
Hip-Hop Bracelets
Yes, a good salesman can sell just about everything (and anything) if he or she can promote a product line to the hip-hop community and also appeal to those with a need to connect with the Tibetan community.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for finding one's inner peace and certainly don't mind wearing a symbol of my devotion - especially if it's encrusted in diamonds. Many may purchase this style of jewelry without knowing its meaning and why buyers are finding it an appealing piece of jewelry to purchase.
Shambhala (this is the form found in the earliest Sanskrit manuscripts of Kalacakra texts; the Tibetans usually transliterated this as "Shambhala"; Tib. bde 'byung) is a Sanskrit term of uncertain derivation. Commonly it is understood to be a "place of peace/tranquility/happiness". Shakyamuni Buddha is said to have taught the Kalachakra tantra on request of King Dawa Sangpo of Shambhala; the teachings are also said to be preserved there. Shambhala is believed to be a society where all the inhabitants are enlightened, actually a Buddhist Pure Land, centered by a capital city called Kalapa.
Whatever its historical basis, Shambhala gradually came to be seen as a Buddhist Pure Land, a fabulous kingdom whose reality is visionary or spiritual as much as physical or geographic. It was in this form that the Shambhala myth reached the West, where it influenced non-Buddhist as well as Buddhist spiritual seekers — and, to some extent, popular culture in general.
So, add a bit of peace, a dash of tranquility and hint of happiness and designers have come up with hundreds of variations of the Shambhala bracelets. The Hip-Hop version is encrusted with off-white and chocolate diamonds and cost well into the thousands, while a few Amazon sellers are offering a BOGO on select Shambhala bracelets. I guess the appeal of the Shambhala is that the design tends to allow one to create hundreds of versions of the product, with or without precious or semi-precious stones.
When all was said and done, I found peace, tranquility and happiness at a two for one price
